Jehovah's Witnesses Sacred Texts

June 7, 2004 · updated February 15, 2022

Texts are central to the Jehovah's Witnesses, as can be clearly seen in the name of their governing organization (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York) and their designation of members as "publishers."

In addition to living a righteous life and honoring God, one of the main tasks of Jehovah's Witness is to distribute Bibles and tracts to nonbelievers in the hopes they will be converted.

In addition to their well-known magazines The Watchtower and Awake!, Jehovah's Witnesses publish a specific translation of the Christian Bible called the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York has published a variety of tracts, brochures, books, and Bible study aids in addition to those described above. The official Watchtower website has information on other publications available.
